When children choose a book to read for fun, it should be a book they can read easily. Here is a quick way for your child to see if the book is too hard.
- Find a page that has more space with words on it than space with pictures.
- Hold up five (5) fingers on one hand.
- Have your child read the page out loud to you.
- Each time a word is found that your child does not know put down one (1) finger.
- If all five fingers are used before you get to the end of the page put the book back. It is too difficult.
